The Board of Directors of the Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union has named Thomas Griffiths its interim CEO and president effective Thursday, Jan. 2. Current CEO and President James Takamine, has announced his departure from HCFCU, effective Jan. 1.
The Board of Directors of the Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union has named Thomas Griffiths its interim CEO and president effective Thursday, Jan. 2. Current CEO and President James Takamine, has announced his departure from HCFCU, effective Jan. 1.
Griffiths has served as an HCFCU volunteer on the supervisory committee since January of 2012. A resident of Kailua-Kona, he has been affiliated with Hawaii Credit Unions for many years. Griffiths is a 34-year veteran of the Iowa Credit Union League. He was named president/CEO of the league and its affiliated companies in 1985 and retired in 2006, after which he and his wife, Lois, moved to Kailua-Kona.
“We are very fortunate to have Mr. Griffiths’ vast experience and knowledge in the industry, assisting our credit union as we begin our search for a permanent replacement,” said Board Chairman Dwight Manago. “We would like to thank James Takamine for leading us through a very challenging economic cycle, and we wish him and his family the best in the future.”
Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union is a not-for-profit credit union owned by its more than 41,000 member with branches in Honokaa, Kailua-Kona, Kaloko, Kealakekua and Kohala.
